Hi Harry. Man am I confused with these pencils. Are the 72 in the tin with the plimsols on the same as the 72 eith the stag? Where do Noris fit in? Some sell the 72 set for under £20 some for £60+. could you please do a run down of what is what and the price points? Many thanks.

Thank you for the video. I know Staedtler is not professional artists pencils but I love them. My very first set also was Staedtler Ergosoft and 12 years later I still buy them for my kids and for myself.

Hi, I want just add a clarification about the Lyra pencils: the company that owns them is FILA, an Italian company that is well-known for its original pencils, which are Giotto ones. FILA has acquired several companies over the years, some of them very famous such as Canson, Arches, Strathmore, Princeton, Dixon, Daler Rowney and Lyra. Lyra was originally a German brand, and their pencils are still manifactured in Germany.

I do believe they have fixed a lot of the issues you describe. I have to say user error here. Lightly touch,, and barely! Mix a TINY AMOUNT of pigment on the palette. A very small dot, and mix it with a water brush. They ought to dilute just fine, but just a very small amount. I have seen them lighten quite a bit. I ordered the A6 travel kit and a Spring pan palette. Next I am going to buy a cotton A6 watercolor sketchbook for it. You can just as well cut any papers you want to carry with you. ALWAYS more water, less pigment 😅 thanks for the review!

Another pointing didn't cover in my last conent in crooning and illustration I line of action or gesture if you use a finer pointed coloured pencil you have great results.

You have missed a clue they are called studio for a reason they are better used in design studio setting ie graphic design or fashion. I use thrn for illustration and cartooning and they do a good job for me.

Thank you for doing just a few pencils. I had never used too many of the Chromaflow. I don’t need them necessarily but one might find something that they like about the different brands. I needed to keep my hands in my pockets and any of these could work for someone. Thank you for mentioning OMS I have to use them with this crippling arthritis and am momentarily without my right shoulder ( reconstruction). We can learn with the other arm and wishing you and your family the very best.😊

I didn't know about the color lines that Faber Castell have (Red for kids us, blue for students and artists), that was knowledgeable, and even if I don't use black paper it's much appreciated! Condolences to your loss, personally lost a beloved pet too recently so I understand the pain

As an artist who also wears makeup, I'm like "...if Prismacolor can make a colored pencil that's lightfast for a hundred years for 1.50 a pencil open stock and crayola can make a crayon you can eat without getting poisoned for even less, why is my eyeliner pencil 20 bucks"

You are my go-to person for reliable reviews of any art products. That is why I looked for this review. Recently I heard that FC Polychromos that say “Germany” on them are made in the USA and have more issues with the leads being broken or coming out because of not being glued to the wood and that those that say “Made in Germany” are actually made in Germany and of better quality. Have you heard this? Is this fact or fiction?

hi there thanks so much for this review, ive just bought myself the 48 tin and they look wonderful especially on black paper or maybe dark grey toned, i have claire fontaine pad and its darker than my strathmore grey tone. i love the booklets that are in the gold fabulous their gold range they glide they are beautiful. also each tin comes with a tutorial which is good for me as im new to coloured pencil and im doing a course on them, ive only used graphite so far but i want to venture into colour then watercolor after that as part of my artistic journey. these reviews really help so thanks again for a great review 😁 x

I think the Derwent Drawing pencils are the softest, but of course the limited colors limit their usefulness for a lot of people.

I have set of Prismacolor which I very love,and set of Polychromos that I don't like how they behaves... so can you please advice, which of Derwent serias (Chrimaflow or Colorsoft) is mostly like a Prisma . I don't want to buy a set which will be like a Polychromos...

Thanks for the comparison. I think Coloursoft are my favorite pencils so far but I have been wanting to try some other similar price range pencils. I have some Prismas but don’t think I want a larger set of them. Always like your reviews.
